Maternity portraits can hold a lot of importance in capturing moments in time that you’ve been longing to experience and hold on to. Rosalina’s journey through parenthood shows us that timing is everything, and not everything happens in the way that we expect them. The reasons behind many of our experiences tend to be a mystery, but often lead us to our most meaningful life moments.
It was a privilege to capture the maternity portraits of this beautiful flamenco dancer and be part of her journey.
We got ONE healthy embryo, and she stuck...
"For most of my adult life I hated when people would say things like, “when you know, you know.” No matter where it was coming from, it bothered me because it only reminded me of the despair that I felt. I didn’t really believe that I could find a healthy romantic relationship. My path to my husband took a lot of detours and delays through heartbreaks and obvious mismatches that for some reason I would pursue. In retrospect, the detours were necessary for a person like me. Had I met my husband earlier in my life, it wouldn’t have worked out. It was in all the delays that I became the best version of myself. It was in those detours that I let go of negativity that had been a constant cloud over me. And the day that I met my husband, I did know, and I was a person that was ready.
We met on Match.com. Our first date was in November of 2018, and we married in February 2019. I treasure the relationship that we have because we bring out the best from each other. He is my favorite person to talk to and to spend time with. Every night I thank my lucky stars that we met.
Our journey to parenthood was not traditional. My husband had cancer back in 2007. Fortunately, he froze his sperm and we won the lottery with IVF. I was already 37 when we decided to try. Between my 18 eggs that were extracted at 37 years of age, and his sperm… we got ONE healthy embryo, and she stuck.
I have my little one in a carrier on my chest as I write all of this, and I can’t believe that this all happened to me. Love has lit up my life in a way I could have never imagined; both the love I share with my husband, and the love I feel for my daughter. It was so important for me to have something special to remember this time in my life. When I saw Ani’s photography, it was clear to me that she had the vision and expertise that I was looking for. Her patience and attention to detail allowed my husband and me to capture our love as a couple, and our excitement for the next chapter as parents. I couldn’t possibly put into words how special the maternity photos are to me, and I am so grateful for our experience with Ani!"
